Foods to help protect against lead
Good nutrition can help protect your family from lead. Foods containing calcium, vitamin C, and iron can help our bodies absorb less lead. Many of the foods listed below may be WIC-approved foods in your state.

- Wash your fruits and veggies!
Lead may also be in the soil your food was grown in. Washing veggies and fruits under running water will help to remove lead and harmful bacteria that can make your family sick. - Feed your family regular meals and snacks.
This helps to prevent lead from being absorbed by the body. When your child's stomach is empty, it absorbs more lead.
