Action Plan: Build a super salad

On a piece of paper, write out a plan for making 1 to 3 salads. As you plan each salad, keep these tips in mind:

  • Vary your veggies
  • Use seasonal foods; shop your local farmers market
  • Include protein foods and grains to turn side salads into a meal
  • Make enough for leftovers
  • Save money with homemade dressings

Use the guide below to combine tasty ingredients into 1 to 3 salads. Choose ingredients that are:

  • full of nutrients
  • limited in added sugars, saturated fat, and sodium
  • from at least 3 food groups
